Top Trump Aide Susie Wiles Pressed by Senate Dems Over Epstein File Access
White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles is under fire after revealing in an interview that she had seen portions of the Jeffrey Epstein files and discussed their contents before their public release, a move that has drawn scrutiny from lawmakers just as a massive federal document review continues.
Her comments, published in Vanity Fair, included confirming that President Donald Trump “is in the file” and describing how she had personally read the material, including mentions of Trump’s past interactions with Epstein.
That revelation has put Wiles at the center of a political firestorm. Senate Judiciary Committee ranking members Dick Durbin and Sheldon Whitehouse have formally demanded answers about how and why Wiles gained access to the files and what role she may have played in their handling, redaction or partial release.
The requests come as the Department of Justice continues to miss the statutory deadline to release the full set of Epstein-related documents, now reviewing over 5.2 million pages with teams of attorneys.

Wiles’s comments also drew internal backlash for their blunt assessments of other senior officials, though the White House has staunchly defended her, dismissing the profile as a “hit piece.”
“This was disingenuously framed,” Wiles said in response to critics.
The controversy matters because it raises questions about internal access to sensitive legal materials and whether political figures should publicly discuss them before official release.
Lawmakers are now waiting for Wiles’s detailed response by early January as pressure mounts for clarity over the files and potential political fallout.
