Trump Administration Convenes Defense CEOs at White House Over Weapons Shortage
Top executives from the largest U.S. defense contractors are expected to meet at the White House Friday as the government pushes to accelerate weapons production. The meeting comes amid growing concern that recent military operations are rapidly draining U.S. stockpiles.
The talks reflect mounting pressure inside Washington to replenish missiles, ammunition, and other weapons used in recent conflicts. Officials say the pace of consumption has begun to outstrip production in several critical categories.
According to Reuters, companies including Lockheed Martin and RTX, the parent company of Raytheon, have been invited to the meeting with senior administration officials. The discussions are expected to focus on speeding up manufacturing across the defense industrial base.

The urgency follows recent U.S. military strikes against Iran and continued support tied to wars in Ukraine and Gaza, which together have consumed billions of dollars’ worth of weapons. The Pentagon is now exploring ways to expand production lines and secure replacement supplies.
One official familiar with the planning said the goal is to push companies to “move faster” on weapons output, according to Reuters.
The administration is also preparing a potential supplemental defense funding package of roughly $50 billion to replenish munitions used in recent operations. That funding could support increased production of systems such as Tomahawk cruise missiles and other high-demand weapons.

At the same time, the White House has been increasing pressure on defense contractors to prioritize production performance over shareholder payouts, warning companies that delays could lead to enforcement actions or canceled contracts.
Details about the contractors attending the meeting have not been formally confirmed, but the discussion is expected to shape how quickly the United States can rebuild its weapons stockpiles.
