Trump Administration Faces Another Major Turnover as Tulsi Gabbard Resigns
Tulsi Gabbard reportedly resigned Friday as Director of National Intelligence, according to an Associated Press report carried by WTOP, citing her husband’s cancer diagnosis as the reason for stepping down.
If confirmed, the resignation would mark another major turnover event inside President Donald Trump’s administration and create an immediate vacancy at the top of the U.S. intelligence coordination system. The Director of National Intelligence oversees cooperation among major intelligence agencies and advises the president on national security threats.

The reported departure also renews attention on turnover patterns that have defined much of Trump’s time in office, including repeated changes in Cabinet, national security, communications, legal, and policy leadership positions.
Past administrations have also experienced senior exits, but Trump-era staffing churn became a recurring political and governance issue due to the volume and frequency of high-profile departures.
No successor had been formally announced, and the White House had not yet publicly detailed next steps regarding the role.
