Trump Administration Faces Court Warning Over East Potomac Golf Course Plans
A federal judge warned the Trump administration not to move forward with major changes at East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C., without notifying the court, as a legal fight grows over the future of the city’s public golf courses.
U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes declined to immediately block work at the course, but said the government should provide notice before significant action, including cutting down more than 10 trees. The warning came after the D.C. Preservation League raised concerns that the administration could begin major renovation work before legal challenges are resolved. AP reported that Reyes did not issue a temporary restraining order but told officials to coordinate with government lawyers before major tree removal.

The dispute follows the administration’s termination of National Links Trust’s lease to manage East Potomac, Langston and Rock Creek courses. Reuters reported the nonprofit said it had invested more than $8.5 million in improvements before the lease was ended.
