Trump Attacks Marjorie Taylor Greene Following Her Surprise Resignation
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) stunned Washington by announcing she will resign from Congress in early January 2026. The announcement comes after months of escalating tension with former President Donald Trump—once her closest political ally.

Shortly after her announcement, Trump posted on Truth Social calling her “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown,” claiming her “plummeting poll numbers” and fear of a Trump-backed primary challenger forced her to quit. Trump also said Greene “went BAD” after he refused to return her calls, adding she would have “no chance of winning” with him against her.
Reports confirm Greene had been slipping in GOP polling and had recently clashed with Trump over policy and strategy, including her push on Epstein-related legislation and foreign-policy disagreements. Trump withdrew his support earlier this month and publicly said she had “lost her way.”
Greene, for her part, said her resignation was about sparing her district a “hurtful primary” and insisted she never owed Trump anything. The move leaves Georgia’s 14th District headed toward a special election and highlights a growing rift inside the MAGA wing of the Republican Party.
Trump ended his post by thanking Greene for her service—while making clear he viewed her exit as a win.
