Trump Backs Israel Strike Line, Triggers MAGA Civil War With Carlson
Donald Trump’s backing of Israel in the escalating conflict with Iran is triggering a rare and increasingly public split inside the MAGA movement.
The divide burst into view after Trump defended conservative radio host Mark Levin during a feud with podcaster Megyn Kelly, praising Levin as a “Great American Patriot” while suggesting critics were “not MAGA,” according to Forbes and other outlets.
But the dispute is about more than personal insults between media figures.
Several influential voices long associated with Trump’s “America First” movement—including Tucker Carlson and Kelly—have sharply questioned U.S. involvement in the conflict, arguing it contradicts the movement’s anti-intervention promises.

Carlson has gone further, claiming the conflict primarily serves Israeli regional goals rather than U.S. interests, a position that has infuriated pro-Israel conservatives.
The result is a growing ideological fight inside Trump’s coalition between hawks backing Israel’s confrontation with Iran and populist voices warning the war could pull the United States into another Middle East conflict.
The battle is now spilling across conservative media, social platforms, and Trump’s own political base.
