Trump Blasts Allies, Claims US Doesn’t Need Help After Iran War Rejection
President Donald Trump is now saying the U.S. doesn’t need help in the Iran war—just days after actively asking allies to join.
The shift comes after multiple countries declined to support U.S. efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route. According to Reuters and other outlets, Trump had been in talks with at least seven nations and warned NATO allies of consequences if they refused.
But on March 17, Trump posted that the U.S. “does not need the help of anyone,” signaling a sharp change in tone after limited international backing.
Reports from Reuters and The Guardian show this wasn’t the first contradiction. Trump had also suggested the U.S. might not need to be involved at all, even while pushing for a coalition.
The reversal highlights growing tension between the U.S. and its allies as the conflict escalates and support remains uncertain.
