Trump Claims “+37” Strength After Fuller Wins MTG Seat by Far Less in Georgia
In northwest Georgia, Donald Trump celebrated Clay Fuller’s win in Marjorie Taylor Greene’s former House seat as if the result proved total dominance. The conflict is that the actual election returns show a much tighter race than Trump’s post suggested.
According to AP, Fuller won the April 7 special runoff in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District by about 12 points over Democrat Shawn Harris. Reuters and The Washington Post both reported the race was being watched as a test of Trump’s influence in one of the most conservative districts in the state.

Trump’s post, shown in the user-provided screenshot, called it a “TRUMP +37 seat.” But AP reported that nearly 37-point figure refers to Trump’s 2024 performance in the district, not Fuller’s actual margin in this runoff. Greene had also won the seat by 29 points in 2024, making the new result notably narrower.
That matters because Democrats still lost, but they cut deeply into a ruby-red margin in a seat long seen as safe Republican territory. In Georgia, that makes Trump’s victory lap look less like a landslide and more like message control after an underwhelming result.
