Trump Escalates Iran Pressure With 10,000 Troops and Naval Blockade
The U.S. is sending more than 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East even as a ceasefire with Iran remains in place, raising new questions about whether the conflict is actually winding down or expanding.
According to The Washington Post and AP reporting, the deployment includes a carrier strike group and Marine units that will push total U.S. forces in the region to roughly 50,000.

The buildup comes alongside a U.S.-led naval blockade targeting Iranian trade routes, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil corridors.
At the same time, the Trump administration has pushed a 15-point ceasefire plan through intermediaries while continuing to send troops and equipment.
Iran has warned it could retaliate by disrupting global trade if pressure continues, while mediators race to extend the fragile truce before an April deadline.
The result is a widening gap between diplomatic messaging and military action, with escalation risks still rising.
