Trump Faces Ally Revolt After Demanding Warships for Hormuz Crisis
President Donald Trump is facing growing resistance from key allies as he pushes for help reopening the Strait of Hormuz during the Iran war, while gas prices surge back home.
European leaders have flatly rejected involvement, with officials saying the conflict is “not our war,” according to Reuters. Trump has asked roughly seven countries to send naval support, but none have committed, AP News reported.
The stakes are rising fast. The Strait carries about 20% of the world’s oil, and disruptions have pushed crude above $100 per barrel, driving U.S. gas prices to their highest levels in years.
At the same time, some countries are cutting their own deals with Iran instead of backing Washington, undercutting U.S. strategy.
Trump has responded with airstrikes near the Strait and policy moves like a shipping law waiver to ease domestic fuel pressure.
The gap between U.S. demands abroad and economic pain at home is now widening.
