Trump Faces Fresh Fitness Scrutiny After Ex-Lawyer Says He Is ‘Just Lost’
Donald Trump is facing a new round of scrutiny after Ty Cobb, a lawyer from his first White House, said the president’s mental decline has “accelerated” and that he now seems “lost.” The conflict is that Cobb is making one of the bluntest insider claims yet, while Trump’s own doctor recently said he remains fully fit for office.
According to The Independent, Cobb tied his concerns to Trump’s recent tangents, late-night social posts, harsher rhetoric, and what he described as a shrinking vocabulary. Reuters, however, reported in April 2025 that Trump’s White House physician found him in “excellent cognitive and physical health” and recorded a perfect 30/30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment.

There are also wider warning signs politically, even if not medically. A Reuters/Ipsos poll found 61% of Americans say Trump has become more erratic with age, including 30% of Republicans. But Reuters has also reported that experts caution against treating public verbal slips as proof of cognitive decline.
That leaves this story in a familiar place: sharp public concern, sharp denial from official channels, and no new independent medical evidence resolving it.
