Trump Invites Netanyahu, World Leaders to New Gaza “Board of Peace” Amid Israeli Pushback
The U.S. has invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and about 50 world leaders to serve as founding members of a new international body called the Board of Peace, designed to oversee the post-war phase in Gaza and potentially broader global conflict resolution.
The move is already provoking tension: Netanyahu’s office has publicly objected to the inclusion of Qatar, Turkey and Egypt on the subsidiary Gaza Executive Board, which is tasked with on-the-ground governance decisions, saying the appointments were made without consulting Israel.
According to the White House, the Board of Peace — chaired by former President Donald Trump — is intended to guide reconstruction, disarmament of Hamas, regional relations and economic recovery in Gaza. Founding members of the Board’s executive committee include U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, former British PM Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, Marc Rowan and Robert Gabriel.

In addition to Israel, leaders from Canada, Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, India, Greece, Cyprus and Hungary have been invited, and some confirmations have been publicly acknowledged. Participation beyond the three-year initial term requires a $1 billion financial contribution from nations seeking permanent seats.
“This is a unique opportunity to help solidify peace in the Middle East and future global conflict resolution,” a letter from Trump said, urging leaders to join the initiative.
Critics argue the structure could sideline the United Nations and Palestinian voices in deciding Gaza’s future, raising questions about legitimacy and influence. Acceptance of invitations is ongoing and expected to be finalized around the upcoming World Economic Forum in Davos, where a full membership list is likely to be announced.
