Trump Issues New 48-Hour Iran Ultimatum After Prior Deadline Failed
President Donald Trump has given Iran a fresh 48-hour deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, warning of major military consequences if it fails to comply.
But this is not the first time.
The latest ultimatum follows a previous 10-day deadline and multiple earlier threats, raising questions about whether escalation is imminent or being delayed again as tensions rise.
According to CBS News and The Independent, Trump posted that “all hell will reign down” if Iran does not reopen the critical shipping route, as U.S. forces continue searching for a missing service member after a fighter jet was shot down.
At the same time, Iran has only partially eased restrictions, allowing some essential goods shipments while rejecting broader U.S. demands, according to Reuters.

“Time is running out — 48 hours before all hell will reign down,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.
The Strait of Hormuz carries about 20% of global oil, and its closure has already disrupted markets and triggered military incidents across the region.
Trump has repeatedly threatened strikes on Iranian infrastructure in recent weeks, but previous deadlines passed without full follow-through, while negotiations have stalled and Iran has pushed back.
What happens next may hinge on whether this deadline leads to direct action or becomes another extension in a rapidly escalating conflict.
For now, the countdown has reset again.
