Trump Labor Secretary Chavez-DeRemer Resigns After Misconduct Probe Fallout
Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned, the White House confirmed Monday, marking another high-level exit as scrutiny builds around her tenure.
Officials said she is leaving for a private sector role, but the timing follows months of allegations and an active misconduct investigation.
According to the Associated Press and Reuters, Chavez-DeRemer became the third Cabinet member to leave in recent weeks, with Deputy Secretary Keith Sonderling stepping in as acting head of the agency.
The resignation comes after reports that a Department of Labor watchdog was investigating claims she misused taxpayer-funded travel, drank alcohol during work hours, and engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate.

“Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer will be leaving the Administration to take a position in the private sector,” White House spokesperson Steven Cheung said.
Despite that framing, multiple aides tied to her office were removed or resigned during the probe, signaling broader internal disruption at the department.
The situation raises questions about oversight and accountability, especially as the administration faces multiple Cabinet-level departures within a short span.
The Inspector General investigation is ongoing, and further findings or personnel actions could follow.
Her departure closes a tenure that remains under active review.
