Trump Pauses U.S. Strait of Hormuz Mission as Iran Deal Talks Continue
President Donald Trump paused Project Freedom, the U.S. effort to guide stranded commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, while warning Iran that U.S. bombing could resume at a higher intensity if a deal is not reached.
Reuters reported that Trump said the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran could end if Iran honors what he described as an agreed proposal. But he also warned that if Iran does not agree, “the bombing starts” at a much higher level.

The pause puts diplomacy and military pressure on parallel tracks. CBS News reported that Project Freedom was designed to help ships move through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway where disruption has affected global shipping and energy markets.
Iran has warned that U.S. involvement in the strait could be treated as a violation of the ceasefire, leaving the next step dependent on whether talks produce a deal or another escalation.
