Trump Says Iran Ceasefire Is on Life Support After Rejecting Tehran Proposal
President Donald Trump said the Iran ceasefire is “on life support” after rejecting Tehran’s response to a U.S. peace proposal, while Iran signaled it would continue fighting rather than accept terms it views as surrender.
Reuters reported that Trump dismissed Iran’s response as “stupid” and said the ceasefire was at its weakest point. Iran’s proposal focused on ending the war broadly, lifting sanctions, securing compensation for war damage, ending the U.S. naval blockade, and asserting sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

The dispute is also widening across the Gulf. AP reported that the UAE said it shot down two drones and blamed Iran, though no casualties were reported. AP also reported that Iran remains on “full readiness” to protect nuclear sites as Trump threatens renewed bombing if no deal is reached.
The practical risk is that a failed ceasefire could restart major U.S. strikes, worsen Gulf security, and further disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
