Trump Stuns Mike Johnson by Disclosing Rep Neal Dunn ‘Would Be Dead by June’
President Donald Trump stunned reporters Monday after revealing a previously undisclosed medical diagnosis involving a Republican congressman during a press appearance tied to a board meeting at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The unexpected disclosure happened while Trump was discussing the fragile Republican majority in the House and praising party leaders for keeping votes together.
During the remarks, Trump said Florida Rep. Neal Dunn had earlier received what he described as a terminal heart diagnosis and at one point “would be dead by June,” according to reporting by The Independent and the Washington Examiner.
House Speaker Mike Johnson appeared visibly surprised during the exchange and acknowledged the diagnosis had not previously been public information.
“OK, that wasn’t public, but yeah, it was grim,” Johnson said during the exchange, according to reports.

Trump then said Dunn later underwent emergency treatment that included multiple stents and recovered, describing the congressman as having “a new lease on life.”
The moment drew attention because the president appeared to reveal private health information while speaking about the political stakes of maintaining the GOP’s narrow House majority.
Dunn’s office has not publicly released additional details about the condition or surgery following the remarks.
The incident is likely to raise questions about how the disclosure occurred and whether Dunn had approved the information becoming public.
For now, the Florida lawmaker remains in office and active in House proceedings.
