Trump’s trade war isn’t punishing China — it’s punishing American farmers. Tariffs drive up the cost of farm equipment and inputs here at home, with the money flowing straight into the U.S. Treasury. Then the administration recycles those dollars as so-called “bailouts,” forcing farmers to pay twice and pretend it’s a gift.
Meanwhile, the real damage is global. China — once the top buyer of U.S. soybeans — has shifted its contracts to competitors like Argentina. American market share shrinks, competitors grow stronger, and Washington calls it a win.
The reality is simple: Trump’s tariffs double-tax U.S. agriculture, weaken our position with China, and hand over America’s markets to foreign rivals.
