TSA Data Sharing Triggers 800 ICE Arrests, Report Reveals Program Shift
ICE made more than 800 arrests using TSA-provided travel data, but the scope and intent of that cooperation are now under scrutiny.
According to Reuters, internal federal data shows the Transportation Security Administration shared information on over 31,000 travelers with Immigration and Customs Enforcement between early 2025 and February 2026. That data helped ICE track individuals’ movements, often to time arrests.
The program feeding the data, known as Secure Flight, was originally built for counterterrorism—not immigration enforcement, raising new concerns about mission creep.

Officials have not clarified how many arrests actually happened inside airports, or how directly TSA tips led to detentions.
The report comes as immigration enforcement expands under President Donald Trump’s second term, with ICE activity rising nationwide.
Critics, including more than 40 Democratic lawmakers, argue the practice creates fear among travelers and could blur the line between security screening and immigration policing.
The Department of Homeland Security has not publicly addressed the findings.
