Turning Point USA Endorses VP JD Vance for 2028 and Straw Poll Shows Surge
Vice President JD Vance is gaining early conservative momentum toward a potential 2028 presidential bid, but he has not formally launched a campaign and key questions remain.
At the Turning Point USA AmericaFest conference in Phoenix this month, Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk publicly endorsed Vance as her organization’s leading choice for the next GOP nominee. Kirk told the crowd her group would marshal support to help elect Vance as the 48th president.
The endorsement injected tension into the party’s future dynamics, with conservative activists weighing how the GOP will evolve after Donald Trump. A straw poll conducted at the same festival showed overwhelming support for Vance, roughly 82–84% of respondents chose him as their top choice for 2028, far ahead of other Republican prospects.
Despite the grassroots backing, Vance has not declared a 2028 bid. In multiple media appearances, he said his priority is executing his current duties and focusing on the 2026 midterm elections before discussing a presidential run with President Trump.

Some Republican leaders are cautious or noncommittal about early endorsements, indicating party figures are not uniformly aligned behind Vance this far ahead of the primary season.
“That movement is all-in for JD Vance in 2028,” said a Turning Point USA spokesman, framing the poll as a snapshot of conservative base sentiments.
The early support could shape where influential party infrastructure directs resources, especially in key early states like Iowa and New Hampshire. But without an official campaign announcement, it remains uncertain whether Vance will translate this momentum into a formal White House run.
What happens next?
That hinges on Vance’s post-2026 midterms decision and whether other GOP figures enter the 2028 field.
