UK Army Leader Sounds Alarm on ‘Manosphere’ Driving Harassment Spike
A top British Army leader is warning that online “manosphere” culture is fueling misogyny inside the military, adding new urgency to an issue already under investigation.
The concern highlights a growing divide: UK officials are increasingly linking digital male-dominated spaces to real-world behavior, while critics argue the threat may be overstated.
According to UK defense data reported by Reuters, about 67% of servicewomen experienced sexualized behavior and 21% faced direct harassment in a single year. The Ministry of Defence has since introduced training focused on consent, misogyny, and harmful online influences.

Research cited by UK inquiries has also examined how incel and manosphere content intersects with military culture, raising concerns about normalization of gender hostility.
But other studies, including an Ofcom-backed report, suggest most users do not fully adopt extreme views, complicating the narrative.
The debate now centers on whether cultural reform or enforcement policy is the more effective response.
