U.S. Air Force B-52 Crashes at Edwards Air Force Base Shortly After Departure
A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff Monday morning from Edwards Air Force Base in California, according to officials.
The aircraft went down around 11:20 a.m. local time on the base airfield, prompting an immediate emergency response. Edwards AFB said rescue crews were dispatched to the scene and later closed the airfield while diverting incoming aircraft. Non-commercial visitor access to the installation was also suspended as emergency operations continued.
As of publication, military officials had not released information about the crew, possible injuries, fatalities, or the cause of the crash.
