U.S. Attorney Charges Five Family Mob Members in Minneapolis Drug Sweep
Five alleged members and associates of the Family Mob street gang have been federally charged in Minneapolis following a coordinated law enforcement operation.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota announced Wednesday that three indictments and two criminal complaints were unsealed after agents executed arrest and search warrants involving multiple S.W.A.T. teams.
Those charged are Traveon D. Wilson, 28; Shawn M. Williams, 29; Devin J. Lewis, 29; Darius J. Hudson, 26; and Michael R. Thomas, 28 — all of Minneapolis, according to prosecutors.
Federal authorities allege the defendants are tied to the Family Mob street gang and face drug trafficking charges connected to narcotics distribution in the area. Prosecutors have not yet detailed the specific quantities of drugs or outlined additional conspiracy counts in the initial release.
The coordinated takedown comes amid heightened federal focus on gang-related narcotics activity in Minneapolis, where law enforcement agencies have increased joint operations targeting organized street groups.
“This case reflects our continued commitment to dismantling criminal organizations that threaten public safety,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
The charges carry potential significant federal prison sentences if convictions are secured, and investigators have not ruled out additional arrests or superseding indictments as the case develops.
Initial appearances in federal court are expected this week, and prosecutors may release more detailed charging documents outlining the scope of the alleged operation.
For Minneapolis residents, the case represents another high-profile federal intervention aimed at disrupting gang-linked drug distribution networks.
