U.S. Intelligence Reveals Iran Regime Still Intact After Khamenei Killing
U.S. intelligence agencies now believe Iran’s government is not at risk of collapse, even after weeks of sustained U.S. and Israeli bombing across the country.
The assessment challenges growing speculation that the air campaign — including the strike that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — could rapidly topple the Islamic Republic.
According to reporting by Reuters, several U.S. intelligence reports conclude Iran’s leadership structure remains largely intact. Analysts say the regime still maintains control over the population and key institutions despite heavy military damage.
The current leadership appears to have consolidated around Mojtaba Khamenei, the slain leader’s son, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps continues to control internal security and political authority.

That reality creates a major strategic dilemma for Washington and Israel.
Military planners had hoped sustained strikes and leadership losses might weaken the regime enough to trigger internal collapse or widespread uprising.
One source familiar with the intelligence assessment said the reports consistently show the Iranian government “retains control over the Iranian public.”
The finding raises broader questions about the war’s ultimate objective.

If the regime remains stable despite thousands of strikes, analysts warn that outside military pressure alone may not be enough to force political change inside Iran.
At the same time, the regional conflict is expanding. Iranian forces and allied militias have attacked shipping routes and energy infrastructure across the Middle East, pushing oil prices higher and raising fears of a prolonged war.
For now, intelligence officials say the regime remains resilient but the internal situation inside Iran could still shift if protests or military fractures emerge.
