U.S. Officials Warn Russia Shared Intel With Iran as Nuclear War Fears Rise
Fears of nuclear war are rising again as the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran expands and new intelligence reports are adding to the anxiety.
U.S. officials say Russia has shared information about American military positions with Iran, which could help Tehran target U.S. ships and aircraft in the region. According to the Associated Press and other outlets, the intelligence sharing marks the strongest signal yet that Moscow may be indirectly aiding Iran during the conflict.
The war began after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, 2026, and Iran has since launched waves of drones and missiles across the Middle East.

Despite the escalation, historian Niall Ferguson told CBS News that a global war is “not a crazy question” but still unlikely.
The bigger fear many experts raise is what would happen if nuclear weapons were used. According to nuclear risk researchers, even a single detonation in a modern city could overwhelm emergency services and trigger massive economic and humanitarian disruption.
For now, governments say they are monitoring the situation closely while urging the public not to panic.
