Great article! I agree, except would make one comment: the elderly are actually not represented, either. Though the people in power are often elderly, they are also wealthy and don’t need to worry about the cost of health care, the cost of housing, etc. They do not have life experience of the needs of the vast majority of the elderly in America. More and more they are representing only the needs and desires of the ultra wealthy.
The baby boomers have controlled most things for the past 4 plus generations, largely through their numbers, as well as their somewhat disturbing tendency to assume the world revolves around them - sorry, I'm reading Boomers by Helen Andrews these days, and it's causing an ongoing "Oh Shit" moment for me.
Politics aside for a moment, everything has followed the Boomers' interests for far longer than seems really necessary. Things should improve slightly as they shuffle off this mortal coil. Hopefully.
