Driving us all underground to the dark net. They will lay waste to social media they can control. When they can’t do that they’ll flip the switch and put us in total darkness. Oddly enough the more severe security challenges are more from here at home than abroad.
I can honestly say that there have been several times I've joked about having the FBI show up at my door because I post anti-trump, anti-ICE all the time. Nothing would surprise me with this lunatic. As I read your piece I thought 'this is going to silence people en masse' just out of fear. This seems such a breach of our rights, doesn't it??? Well, they keep proving they have no regard for our rights so I suppose that should be no surprise. I've pretty much been expecting things to come to th inis. I don't know how far reaching this will be, but I'm continuing as I have been doing, voicing my objections, criticisms and complaints wherever I happen to be reading. What are they going to do, investigate 75 million of us??? I truly believe they use fear to intimidate and control us. Silence is their greatest asset and weapon. I refuse to let them intimidate me. This is still a free country with the Constitution being the law of the land.
Certainly doesn't seem to apply as far as they are concerned!!! But still does to the rest of us ... I refuse to bow down to them, no matter what power they try to use.
A return to the pre-Department of Homeland Security governmental structure offers the clearest path to restoring accountability, mission clarity, and constitutional safeguards. The pre-DHS system, while imperfect, ensured that agencies such as FEMA, the Coast Guard, and the former INS operated with narrower mandates, clearer oversight, and greater transparency.
The centralization of 22 distinct agencies under DHS has resulted in bureaucratic sprawl, overlapping jurisdictions, and a troubling concentration of power that has proven resistant to effective oversight and reform.
Dismantling DHS and returning its agencies to their original departments would help restore the federal checks and balances that prevent government overreach. Each agency could focus on its core mission, be held to clear standards, and have direct oversight. This would also end the ongoing expansion of DHS’s powers and reduce the risk of civil liberties violations.
While the security challenges of the 21st century are real, they do not justify the continued existence of a mega-agency that has repeatedly demonstrated inefficiency, lack of accountability, and a disconnect from American values.
It is time to return to a structure that prioritizes both safety and liberty—one where the federal government is both nimble in responding to security threats and firmly grounded in the principles of transparency, accountability, and constitutional restraint.
McCarthyism is what trump's mentor, Roy Cohn, is infamous for.
Sickening.

I don't think the Constitution applies anymore.

The best thing we can do is share this all over the various social media sites.

Excellent point, Lou. We also need to rethink the PATRIOT Act. It laid the groundwork for an expanded surveillance state.
They are only asking for anonymous. It concerns me that real names are already in the bucket.
