A couple weeks ago, somewhere in the vomit of a trump decree, he did say he was going to sue the dishonest pollsters. So there you go, Gallup caved in advance, as good fascist do. No mystery here.
It is so true how we analyze things now, like Gallup's decision, when we would not have given it a second thought before. I find myself questioning, wondering about many different decisions being made. We are naturally suspect now about the possible pressure or threats behind the decisions. Sad, really, that we cannot take anything at face value anymore. But good that we are aware and intelligent enough to question and not believe everything dished out to us. Great piece, important point to make. Thank you!
Yours is a very sinister reading of Gallup’s decision, and one not to be taken lightly. I will also add two thoughts. I polled for Gallup for two years back in my “salad days.” First thought is, we did far more marketing “research” than public service polling. The company’s bottom line was paid for by advertising gimmick polls. Second thought is, this Omaha based company was a conservative culture even then. I wonder if their upper management is uncomfortable with the numbers they are seeing? Perhaps The truth of Trump’s unpopularity moved them to silence it without presidential interference?
My guess is that this is an unwritten story: Trump attacks with a vengence anyone who contradicts him. Therefore do not poll when you know the result will be bad news.
Would be better for us slow readers if you would use less words to say more directly what you are thinking. Trumps moves to be king need to be out there and not just insinuated. But then again, I’m not the one sticking my neck out. There was a time when the laws of the land were not controlled by a leader of the kool aide brigade. very sad.
