There's no way he gets away with that again, if he has real competition. As Shapiro said, Pennsylvanians elected a Democrat, and Fetterman decided no longer to be one. Sinema started out with the Green Party, then moved to the Democratic Party, and got elected. By the time she drifted far right, she could never have gotten elected again. Manchin got away with calling himself a Democrat because he voted like a Republican. Apparently, the voters of W VA didn't care what he called himself, as long as he was a reliable Republican vote.
Fetterman is playing a dumb game, and he won't get re-elected, but he probably doesn't care. One Senate term, and he gets a full pension for life. Larry Lathrop, in his comment, calls Fetterman a DINO. Maybe he realized he wouldn't beat Oz, so he declared himself a Democrat, and why he abandoned his constituents is a mystery.
