Thank you for such a needed response to the daily dose of crazy that seems to be suffocating our brains and our spirits. We’re all really more similar than different (okay, maybe not athletically) and we inhabit this big, blue marble together, so how about we put our differences aside and pretend every day is the World Cup. Forever.

Thank the heavens for the World Cup! Proving to the people who really matter we are not our headlines or what’s going on in Washington. Hope they’re having a great time!!

Thank you so much for this uplifting article. This really gives me hope.

Our republican politicians have been hard at work feeding divisiveness of every kind into a rage machine of their making. It has become especially horrible now with Trump and his crew of destroyers and all he is doing and undoing.

Your article shows that the true nature of humanity at it's best is not lost. We all must focus on these truths and overwhelm their hateful greedy efforts with these truths and the true love of our neighbors at the core.

My words fail to express the enormity of what, why and how we absolutely must overcome and prevail as soon as possible!

Thank you again.

Ms Riverton, no, people from other countries were not lied to about Americans and the country they decided they could dominate. Foreign visitors were told the truth about America and Americans. Who was lied to was Americans. And now, today, they see what a monstrous caricature of xenophobia really looks like. They are awakened to themselves. And they reject what they now more clearly understand was a lie.

That's an interesting perspective. I was going by what the travelers said in their posts about what they were told.

Have you ever traveled outside this country? Have you ever heard Americans generally referred to as loud, obnoxious, and entitled? Have you noticed that is commonly true?

If we're learning the lesson not to mistreat people from other countries, who are on our turf, I hope we're also learning not to mistreat them on their turf.
