Let’s call it as it was. The airplane was on final approach to land holding its course. The helicopter made a series of moves changing course and then came about and crashed into the airplane downing it. Facts matter, the aircrew of the airplane didn’t stand a chance to avoid it or mitigate the outcome. Very sad to see it being reported as a “collision” of worst still that the airplane “crashed into” the helicopter. Absolutely tragic incident that was totally avoidable. Utterly devastating for all those who died, their families and the wider community. A very dark day for aviation and for America.
As more information comes forth, it definitely sounds hinky. At the time of the release, we had few details. Once we know more we will write a deeper piece
The question now is what Trump executive orders (if any) resulted in this crash or contributed in any way. We know he has dismissed so many federal employees and have replaced them with totally incompetent people in positions that they have no clue or experience in doing. Washington National Airport is so close to the White House and the government buildings, we know that any stray plane is not able to even come near those buildings as the skies are monitored with sharp precessions. So we have National Defense, Secretary of Transportation, Federal Aviation, so many agencies are involved and have been left rudderless since January 20.
