Where I live the nearest trauma center in over an hour away. When I was working as a 911 dispatcher in the 90s we had hospitals that were 30 minutes away by ambulance. Now it's a helicopter ride if one is available. This need to be fixed.

This will only get fixed when the people affected start voting for representatives who support funding for rural health care. See Mary Lynne’s comment above.

Could someone please explain to me why these betrayed people keep voting for Republicans?

Ignorance. Truly. Willful ignorance.

All failing hospitals should be bought for the value of real estate and equipment and then put under the control and operation of the Office of the Surgeon General. The SGUS should then be funded to run them as non-profit regional services.

People in rural areas need to have good access to healthcare. People living and working on farms can potentially have accidents, and they need quick access to emergency care, not to mention other medical issues like delivering a baby or just a sudden illness.

Very true but nothing will change until these people stop voting against their best interest.

And sometimes believe the lies the right wing Republicans spread. In the last election, The Fapweasel (Trump) told some whoppers! He made promises he never kept, and promised things he couldn’t deliver.
