This is beyond disgusting, another monument trump doesn't need or deserve, his ego is already out of control!

The Arch, much like the man, would be a disturbing and destabilizing intrusion into civic space.

This is abhorrent!

Wow--this is so beautifully written. Thank you for this persuasive and metaphoric truth.

What a perfect statement- and argument- against the imaginings of the Caligula-level ego of the unhinged being squatting in the WH.

This is an outrageous attempt to write Trump all over WA DC...while he has already disobeyed the law by pulling down part of the PEOPLES White house. He has no respect for decorum and the law...and unfortunately for us very little respect for people and believes that everyone who doesn't agree with him should be crushed. He has said that out loud.

Insatiable need for validation coupled with the power of the executive branch is unsafe for the majority.

If he builds it, we can tear it down.

He is trying to intrude his name into every aspect of the nations Capital. He has destroyed the White House by tearing down the East wing , and put his name above John Kennedy's at the Art Center and now and ARCH! Enough is enough, we will be voting to remove all that trash anyway so why bother building it

The monument area was very carefully planned; laid out and built and has stood the test of time. djt needs to be stooped: he is soooo insecure he needs a monument every where he looks????? He can't be permitted to destroy the balance of the mall. Like the White House, the Mall belongs to the people and we prefer it as it is now.

How to protest/make sure this is never built?

TRUMP WAS RIGHT!

Fact check: 53 times Trump said he could end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours or even before physically taking office.

BUT HE PURPOSELY CHOSE NOT TO.

Instead, He chose to go to war or threaten war in other places - to include our own cities.

Riddle that, will you?!?!?!?

Even if he was a good President I wouldn’t want Trump to demand his memorial there. He is so full of himself. Yuk

If it was built, I would be shocked if it was done before the end of his term, given the lightning speed that things are progressing with his ridiculous ballroom addition between court cases -- and then he will discover that tariffs mean building supplies he needs either are not getting imported or they are blowing the budget.

So, tearing down an incomplete monument and restoring the land on which it was being built should be an easy choice for the next administration (which I am guessing will be Democratic once those who supported Trump finally realize promises for more affordability were just more lies and the costs of everything mount as our former trading partners found new partners and have now imposed crazy high tariffs to discourage anyone from buying crap from the USA. That strategy seems to have been effective in Canada already!

Hopefully, numerous lawsuits can be timed to block construction or some workers might accidentally introduce construction errors to work has to be stopped, torn out, and redone. Trump is a narcissistic bully with dementia. This is a dangerous combo as it means he won't listen to reason, facts are too hard to process, and any opposition evokes rage and a desire for vengeance. My hope is his cabinet is watching his poll numbers continue to crater and take him out with Amendment 25. He will protest so it will still go to Congress but if the Cabinet views him as unable to perform his duties that will make it easier for them to vote to agree than an impeachment vote would have been. Then Melania can put him in the memory care unit of some crappy less expensive facility and enjoy being unofficially single at Mar a Lago. My other hope is for a major stroke that incapacitates him to where he can't speak or move his hands. So, he again ends up in nursing with an all-Latino and Black staff who keep his TV set to MS-NOW or stream Rachel Maddow for him as often as possible. Thought about this way too much?? Why would you think that? (even though it is obviously true).
