This is a case for universal healthcare. I agree he should have told his constituents why he was in the hospital, not necessarily the diagnosis, but they deserved some form of communication, which he wasn’t doing. And while I agree that depression is an illness and can be a very severe one (I’m a retired psych RN) , there could have been other things he could have been doing to reconnect with his constituents. Just vanishing was irresponsible. And he shouldn’t expect his constituents to deal with the same things he was dealing with out some form of compensation or help. That’s just arrogance.
